HIM - Outpatient Coder - Full Time - Health Information Management
Primary general duties include:

Assignment of ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes, CPT codes and HCPCS codes on all outpatient lines of service to include Emergency Room, Diagnostic Outpatient Lab / Radiology, Treatment services, and Recurring services.
Working closely with / querying providers for clarity in documentation.
Work respectfully with nursing and other staff on timely deficiency completion, medical necessity follow-up and claims processing issues.
Support meeting organizational goal for Accounts Receivables associated with uncoded accounts by maintaining coding timeframes within established departmental standards and ensuring all work items assigned to the coding queues are processed in a timely manner.
Assist with release of information, telephone reception, and scanning documents in others’ absences. Shredding of PHI.

Minimum application requirements:

1. Mandatory Extensive PC knowledge - must be able to work effectively in common office software, coding software and abstracting systems.
2. Knowledge in ICD10-CM, ICD10- PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding.
3. Knowledge of medical necessity compliance.
4. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus.
5. Ability to adapt to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, including organizing workflow and actively participating in problem-solving.
6. Ability to prioritize workloads, meet coding deadlines
7. Knowledge of patient confidentiality regulations and maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.

Preferred application requirements:

1. Must have a pleasant and friendly personality, conduct oneself in a professional manner, possess a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty, and confidentiality, with a willingness to cooperate with and / or under the direction of others.
2. Proficiency with electronic encoder application
3. Coding Certification with proficiency in ICD10-CM, ICD10- PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding.
4. Experience with the current Hospital Software.
