Covid-19 Facility Updates:
Lavaca Medical Center (LMC) is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of our community, patients and employees. Lavaca Medical Center continues to take all precautions necessary as issued by the CDC to protect patients and healthcare workers. We have policies and procedures in place and will continue to work closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services and the CDC for their guidance. Please be aware of the measures below for the safety of our patients, visitors, and employees.
Masks Are Still Required While Inside Lavaca Medical Center Facilities:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recently announced in an update that the new masking recommendations for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not apply to health care settings. The agency shared in a statement, "This means staff, patients, residents and visitors should continue to wear masks as recommended in all healthcare facilities." Lavaca Medical Center is regulated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); therefore, the facility must adhere to all federal rules that supersede all state guidance and/or executive orders. CMS requires that all hospitals follow CDC recommendations regarding preventing the spread of COVID-19. These recommendations included limiting visitors, face coverings/masks, social distancing, hand hygiene practices, and screening everyone who enters a healthcare facility for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Lavaca Medical Center has been, and will remain, in compliance with the CDC recommendations and CMS requirements listed above. Masks must be worn upon entrance, during your time in the facility, and as you exit the facility. Please do not remove your mask until you are outside.
If you are experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath, please drive to the back of the facility and a nurse will assist you.
The Health & Wellness Center Entrance is open for Physical Therapy patients and To-Go Order customers of The Health Rock Café.
All other patients/visitors are to use the Main Hospital Entrance or the Emergency Room Entrance. Both of these are controlled entrances. When you arrive, expect to have your temperature screened.
